Guwahati buzzed with urgency on Thursday as Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma issued a stark warning about the state’s evolving demographics. Speaking to reporters, Sarma described the changes as an ‘alarming call’ that demands immediate attention from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The CM emphasized that protecting Assam’s future hinges on safeguarding key assembly constituencies. ‘Our top priority is defending those areas where the state’s long-term interests are at stake,’ he declared. These shifts, he argued, pose profound risks to social harmony, cultural identity, and sustainable growth.
Sarma outlined the BJP’s strategy, which balances indigenous communities’ rights with inclusive development for all sections of society. Under his leadership, the government has taken firm steps against illegal immigration, land encroachment, and threats to cultural heritage.
Turning to the upcoming BJP Jan Ashirwad Yatra, Sarma highlighted its dual purpose: showcasing government achievements and connecting directly with the masses. ‘This isn’t just about listing accomplishments; it’s about earning public blessings and listening to grassroots voices,’ he said.
The yatra will allow party leaders to gauge public aspirations, shaping policies in infrastructure, education, healthcare, job creation, and welfare. Sarma pointed to these initiatives as the bedrock of Assam’s progress.
At the core of the BJP’s vision remains the protection of Assam’s unique identity and demographic balance. Sarma expressed confidence that the people will continue backing the party, fueling efforts for a secure, prosperous, and culturally vibrant state. ‘Public trust is our greatest strength,’ he affirmed, vowing commitment to this shared dream.
