JERUSALEM, Feb 26 – On the second day of his historic Israel visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a poignant stop at the Yad Vashem World Holocaust Remembrance Center. Paying solemn tribute to the six million Jews killed during the Nazi regime, Modi laid wreaths and reflected at the memorials dedicated to unimaginable human suffering.

The emotional visit marked Modi’s second trip to this hallowed ground. He toured the evocative Book of Names Hall, a repository preserving the identities of millions lost to the Holocaust. This gesture underscores India’s unwavering commitment to remembering history’s darkest chapters and standing against hatred and genocide.

Later, in a symbolic act of friendship, PM Modi joined Israeli President Isaac Herzog in the Presidential Garden to plant a tree under the ‘One Tree for Mother’ initiative. The duo also held talks strengthening India-Israel ties, focusing on education, startups, innovation, technology, and connectivity.

Modi extended a warm invitation to Herzog for an upcoming visit to India. As his two-day state visit concludes, Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are set to address a joint press conference. The trip has been marked by warm receptions, including a personal welcome at the airport by Netanyahu and his wife Sara.

Modi’s landmark address to the Israeli Knesset made him the first Indian PM to speak there, earning him the prestigious Speaker of the Knesset Medal. Netanyahu hailed Modi as a ‘true friend and brother,’ reminiscing about their famous ‘Modi hug’ and praising him as one of the world’s great leaders.

This visit reinforces the deepening strategic partnership between the two nations, built on shared values of democracy, innovation, and resilience against adversity. As Modi departs, the echoes of solidarity from Yad Vashem will linger, symbolizing a shared resolve for a peaceful future.
