MUMBAI – Iconic Bollywood actress and BJP MP Hema Malini couldn’t hide her excitement after witnessing a stunning transformation of Irla Road in Mumbai. On Thursday, the ‘Dream Girl’ took to Instagram to share photos and rave about the cleanup and upgrades that have revitalized the once-cluttered stretch.
Driving through the familiar route, Malini was so surprised she double-checked with her driver if they were on the right path. ‘I couldn’t believe my eyes when I passed through the old Irla road today,’ she captioned the images. The actress highlighted how encroachments on the footpaths have been completely removed, making the area cleaner and more pedestrian-friendly.
Shop windows are now sparkling clean and visible, while locals stroll happily on the widened sidewalks heading to work. ‘The entire Irla area looks completely transformed,’ Malini enthused, crediting the efforts to BJP MLA Amit Satam. Recently appointed as the BJP Mumbai unit president, Satam’s dedication has turned this urban eyesore into a model of civic improvement.
Malini, who has been a vocal advocate for better infrastructure since joining BJP in 2014, expressed hope that such initiatives will continue. Representing Mathura in Parliament, she frequently uses social media to spotlight public issues, blending her cinematic legacy with political activism.
From superhits like Sholay and Seeta Aur Geeta to family dramas like Baghban, Hema Malini’s film career earned her the enduring ‘Dream Girl’ moniker. Married to veteran actor Dharmendra, the couple has two daughters, Esha and Ahana Deol, both of whom have ventured into acting.
This makeover serves as a beacon for other Mumbai neighborhoods, proving that persistent local leadership can deliver tangible change. As Malini noted, maintaining this progress will be key to sustaining the gains.
