In a shocking display of brazen criminality, Patna’s Sultanpur area witnessed a double shooting in broad daylight on Tuesday. Two brothers, vegetable vendors from Tikiya Toli, fell victim to a hail of bullets right in the bustling Musallapur Hat market. Sonu was declared dead on arrival at Patna Medical College Hospital, while his brother Akash fights for life in critical condition.

The incident stems from a monetary dispute. Main suspect Vikash Kumar, who had a pending debt with Sonu, an onion and potato trader, confronted him demanding repayment. An argument escalated into a physical assault where Sonu and Akash beat Vikash. Smarting from the humiliation, Vikash returned two hours later with accomplices, unleashing a chase-and-shoot frenzy.

Eyewitnesses described a terrifying scene: the brothers fled as bullets whizzed past. Akash took a bullet to the back, but Sonu was caught, forced to the ground, and shot point-blank in the temple. The attack involved 12-13 rounds of firing, turning the market into a warzone.

Police from Sultanpur station rushed to the scene, arresting Vikash promptly. They recovered two live cartridges and three spent shells. City East SP Parichay Kumar confirmed it’s a fresh dispute over money, not an old feud. Teams are hunting the fleeing accomplices named by the suspect. Tragically, the murder unfolded on Sonu’s wedding anniversary, leaving his wife devastated and unconscious from grief.

This brazen daytime attack underscores rising lawlessness in the state capital, raising serious questions about public safety amid escalating underworld tensions.
