Patna, February 26: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Araria in Bihar on Thursday, marking a key moment in the government’s push to bolster border security along the India-Nepal frontier. His itinerary kicks off with the inauguration of a new Armed Border Force (SSB) border outpost in the Letti area, a strategic location prone to cross-border challenges.
Following the ceremonial opening, Shah will head to the Araria Collectorate for an in-depth review meeting. Here, district magistrates and superintendents of police from seven border districts will convene to discuss critical issues related to the India-Nepal border. The agenda includes a thorough assessment of the Vibrant Villages Programme, aimed at developing remote border hamlets and enhancing local livelihoods.
The minister’s visit underscores New Delhi’s unwavering commitment to securing the porous Seemanchal region. On Friday, February 27, Shah will continue his engagements in Purnea, holding another round of discussions with officials on border-related matters before departing for the national capital.
This three-day tour, which began on Wednesday, focuses on strengthening administrative coordination in sensitive districts near Nepal and Bangladesh borders. Shah’s arrival in Purnea was met with a warm welcome, after which he chopper-lifted to Kishanganj for an initial review session at the district collectorate, evaluating on-ground preparedness and inter-agency synergy.
Officials have finalized all logistical arrangements, with stringent security measures in place for the high-profile visit. The tour gains added significance post the ‘Naxal-free India’ campaign, positioning Seemanchal as the next frontier in the Home Ministry’s anti-infiltration drive. Shah’s repeated visits to the region highlight the central government’s strategic priorities, ensuring development schemes progress amid heightened vigilance.
