Tel Aviv, February 25 – In a landmark address to Israel’s Knesset, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt condolences to the victims of the October 7 Hamas terror attack. Speaking on behalf of 1.4 billion Indians, he affirmed India’s unwavering support against global terrorism.

‘India stands firmly with Israel in this fight,’ Modi declared, drawing parallels to the nation’s own long struggle against terror. The hall erupted in applause as he recounted the barbarity of the Hamas assault, emphasizing shared grief and resolve.

This was the first time an Indian Prime Minister addressed Israel’s parliament, marking a historic milestone in bilateral ties. Lawmakers cheered repeatedly, chanting ‘Modi, Modi’ in a rousing welcome.

Modi highlighted India’s endorsement of the UN Security Council-backed Gaza peace initiative, calling it a viable path to lasting stability. ‘Hope must be nurtured,’ he urged, stressing solutions rooted in wisdom, courage, and humanity that could address the Palestinian issue justly.

Reflecting on personal and historical bonds, Modi noted his birth on September 17, 1950—the day India formally recognized Israel. He praised the ancient Jewish community’s peaceful integration in India, free from persecution, and lauded Gujarat’s Maharaja Jam Saheb for sheltering Jewish children during the Holocaust.

The speech underscored deepening India-Israel friendship, with Modi conveying greetings of respect and partnership. Speaker Amir Ohana greeted him in Hindi, amplifying the warmth of the occasion.
