Kishanganj, Bihar erupted with activity as Union Home Minister Amit Shah landed on the first day of his three-day tour to the Seemanchal region. Arriving at Purnia’s Chunapur military airfield, Shah was greeted by a enthusiastic crowd of BJP leaders and officials before heading straight to Kishanganj for a crucial high-level review meeting.
The meeting, attended by Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, and a host of senior administrative officers, focused on pressing security concerns along the international border. Regional Commissioner Rajesh Kumar, IG Vivekanand, DM Anshul Kumar, and SP Sweety Sahrawat were among those present, underscoring the gravity of the discussions.
Shah’s itinerary is packed with strategic engagements. On Thursday, he will visit the Letti border post near the Nepal frontier in Araria district, participating in a key border security program. Later, at the Araria collectorate, he will chair another review session with district SPs, DMs, and top officials. Sources indicate deliberations will cover border management, preventing illegal infiltration, demographic shifts, and tactical intelligence sharing.
The tour culminates on February 27 in Purnia, where Shah will hold final consultations on border-related matters. This visit highlights New Delhi’s heightened focus on strengthening vigilance in Bihar’s sensitive border districts. Elaborate security measures are in place across Purnia, Kishanganj, and Araria, with police deployments, intelligence agencies, and central forces ensuring airtight arrangements from airports to venues.
As Bihar braces for potential challenges along its porous borders, Shah’s proactive oversight signals a robust push towards fortified defenses and coordinated action against cross-border threats. The outcomes of these meetings are expected to shape future security protocols in the region.
