JERUSALEM: The Indian expatriate community in Israel is buzzing with excitement as Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarks on his official visit from February 25-26. Residents here describe the occasion as a moment of immense pride for every Indian worldwide.

This trip marks PM Modi’s second journey to the Jewish nation, building on the strong foundations laid during his 2017 visit. Community members gathered to share their joy with reporters, eagerly anticipating the leader’s arrival and his high-profile meetings.

‘I’ve been living in Israel for the past 12 years,’ said one longtime resident. ‘We met PM Modi in parliament during his previous trip. Today, we’re thrilled again as some of us have been invited to volunteer for the event. It’s a truly special day.’

Another expatriate echoed the sentiment: ‘We’re overjoyed. This visit will bring positive outcomes not just for Indians back home but for us here too. Expect major decisions to strengthen ties.’

The enthusiasm stems from the deepening strategic partnership between India and Israel. Leaders from both sides aim to set ambitious goals in defense, agriculture, water management, and beyond, fostering a shared vision for prosperity.

One community voice called it historic: ‘Seeing PM Modi alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fills us with pride. It symbolizes the unbreakable bond between our nations.’

Hopes are high for addressing concerns in construction and farming sectors, areas vital to the diaspora. Prior to departure, PM Modi highlighted the partnership’s growth, expressing anticipation for discussions on science, technology, innovation, trade, and people-to-people ties.

He also plans talks on regional and global issues with Netanyahu and a meeting with President Isaac Herzog. This visit promises to elevate bilateral relations to new heights, leaving the Indian community in Israel beaming with optimism.
