In a significant boost to traditional medicine, President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the National Arogya Mela 2026 in Shegaon, Buldhana district of Maharashtra today. The event underscores India’s rich heritage in holistic health practices.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Murmu honored six senior Ayurvedic practitioners for their exemplary service in AYUSH healthcare. She emphasized that complete health has always been revered as the ultimate bliss in Indian traditions. Healthy citizens form the backbone of a strong nation, she noted.
AYUSH systems like Yoga, Ayurveda, and Siddha have been serving people even before modern medicine emerged, providing invaluable health benefits. Our fields, kitchens, and forests abound with medicinal plants and herbs, a treasure that must be preserved, the President urged.
Cultivating these plants not only supplies raw materials for medicines but also enhances farmers’ incomes, improves soil health, and maintains ecological balance. Promoting AYUSH thus supports physical well-being, economic growth, and environmental conservation.
President Murmu highlighted how these systems guide towards balanced living. The world is increasingly recognizing integrated medicine for disease prevention. Global adoption of Yoga for stress-free lives and Ayurvedic remedies is on the rise.
Evidence-based research, standardization, and quality control will further legitimize AYUSH. The Ministry of AYUSH is steadfast in these efforts, aligning research with international standards and positioning traditional systems as scientific solutions to modern health challenges.
