In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through West Bengal’s Howrah district, a young man was brutally gunned down by two assailants in the early hours of the morning. The murder took place under the jurisdiction of Golabari Police Station, turning a quiet neighborhood into a scene of panic and grief.

Police rushed to the spot after receiving reports of gunfire. Their investigation led them to crucial CCTV footage capturing the horrifying sequence at around 4 AM. The victim, identified as Shafiq Khan, a local developer from Pilkhana, was cornered by two men—one facing him directly, the other lurking behind. Without warning, they drew pistols and fired at his head. As he collapsed, they unleashed a barrage of bullets to ensure his death before fleeing the scene.

Shafiq had stepped out early to grab food by the roadside when tragedy struck. Local residents quickly identified the suspects as Mohammad Harul Khan and Rohit, based on the footage. The brazen attack has heightened fears in the community, with many pointing to an old altercation as the motive.

A senior Howrah city police officer detailed the assault: ‘One attacker pulled out a gun from behind and shot Shafiq in the head. As he fell, both fired multiple rounds before escaping. He was rushed to the hospital but declared dead on arrival.’

Golabari Police have registered a case and formed special teams to track down the killers. Extensive CCTV analysis is underway, alongside combing operations in the area. Shafiq’s family alleges the hit was revenge for a past verbal spat with Harul, though they insist there was no deep enmity.

This cold-blooded killing underscores rising concerns over gun violence in urban fringes. Authorities vow swift justice, but for now, the hunt continues amid a tense atmosphere.
