New Delhi’s innovation scene buzzed on Tuesday as former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant unveiled a bold vision for artificial intelligence. At the launch of his book ‘Smarter Than the Storm,’ Kant declared that AI will only deliver its full potential when it becomes truly multilingual—capable of seamlessly understanding and conversing in local dialects alongside global languages.
Kant, who previously served as G20 Sherpa, emphasized India’s ambition to lead in emerging technologies. The book spotlights how AI and cutting-edge innovations can reshape economies and governance for the future. ‘The key now is integrating AI with renewable energy systems like solar and wind,’ he stated. ‘Adaptability is crucial, and proper software guidance can make it highly efficient.’
Co-author Siddharth Sinha highlighted the Indian government’s India AI Mission, which is democratizing access to computing power and datasets. Recent events like the India AI Impact Summit have firmly placed the nation on the global AI map.
Sinha added that grassroots innovations will drive solutions to social challenges. AI’s applications are vast—from predicting floods and forest fires to optimizing data centers and monitoring wildfires. Yet, he cautioned, AI’s massive energy consumption demands attention.
This visionary book offers a roadmap for decision-makers navigating an increasingly uncertain world. It weaves together insights on climate action, AI-driven innovation, governance reforms, and economic strategies, making it essential reading for business leaders, policymakers, and changemakers.
