Bengaluru erupted in political heat on Tuesday as Karnataka BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra unleashed a scathing attack on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. Accusing them of fiddling while the state’s youth burn, Vijayendra highlighted the dire unemployment situation plaguing Karnataka’s young job seekers.
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, the BJP leader drew attention to massive protests in Dharwad, where students and party workers demanded the filling of vacant government posts. ‘For over two and a half years, our youth have been protesting, shedding tears for their rightful jobs, but the state government remains stone deaf,’ he thundered.
Vijayendra recounted how student unions faced lathi charges during the Belagavi assembly session despite their peaceful demonstrations. Even the Karnataka High Court had to intervene to schedule a meeting with the Chief Minister, underscoring the government’s apathy. ‘Youth are fighting for their rights, but the Congress regime treats their concerns with contempt,’ he added.
The core of his criticism targeted the power tussle between the top two Congress leaders. ‘One is desperately clinging to the CM chair, while the other schemes to grab it. They have no time for the youth’s plight,’ Vijayendra charged. Student representatives informed him that approximately 2.85 lakh government positions remain unfilled.
He accused the Congress government of failing to initiate recruitment processes, using reservation-related legal hurdles as excuses. Despite ministers touring the state with speeches, no concrete action has been taken to address the job vacuum. ‘This government shows zero intent to secure the future of our young talent,’ Vijayendra concluded, vowing continued agitation until justice is served.
