New Delhi, February 24: Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy unleashed a scathing attack on the Karnataka government Tuesday, accusing it of leaving a staggering 2.94 lakh government positions unfilled. He expressed profound concern over the rising unemployment crisis and warned against dismissing the growing protests by jobless youth.
Kumaraswamy pointed to the massive demonstrations in Dharwad as a stark indicator of the state’s failure to fill vacancies promptly. ‘Young people are being forced onto the streets due to sheer governmental negligence,’ he declared, urging the administration to wake up to the brewing discontent.
Standing firmly with the protesters, the minister appealed for peaceful agitations while assuring them of his unwavering support. He highlighted the irony: while cabinet-rank posts are filled at ‘super-fast’ speed, essential roles across departments languish empty.
Citing the Karnataka Administrative Reforms Commission report, Kumaraswamy revealed that 7 lakh unemployed individuals are waiting for government jobs. ‘The government has squandered three precious years in internal power struggles, ignoring youth aspirations entirely,’ he charged.
Unemployment, he warned, is no ordinary issue but a ‘volcano ready to erupt continuously.’ Departments like education, health, and police bear the brunt, with even 18 key Bengaluru police stations lacking inspectors—a direct fallout of the government’s transfer politics.
This vacuum is crippling governance, Kumaraswamy asserted, demanding immediate recruitment drives backed by dedicated budget provisions. He implored the Congress regime to ‘descend from the third floor of Vidhana Soudha’ and heed the youth’s cries, cautioning that ignoring their fury could exact a heavy political toll.
