Mumbai’s crime branch is in high alert mode following the shocking firing incident at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence. Fresh revelations from the investigation point to a meticulously planned conspiracy orchestrated from behind bars in Delhi’s Tihar Jail and Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail.
Interrogations of arrested suspects from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have uncovered that the plot’s blueprint was drawn up within these high-security facilities. The primary execution was assigned to the Agra module, which included shooter Deepak Chandra. Coordinating the entire operation was Golu Pandit, a Lawrence gang member lodged in Tihar Jail.
Golu Pandit, already acquainted with key accused Shubham Lonkar, was tasked with recruiting fresh shooters. He reached out to Vishnu Kushwaha, who in turn prepared Deepak Chandra and others for the hit. Shubham Lonkar and Arju Bishnoi later directly lured the shooters with promises of hefty payments.
Notably, Golu Pandit secured bail from Tihar just days before the firing, and Mumbai Police are now hot on his trail, planning an imminent arrest. Meanwhile, the vehicle and weapons used in the attack were supplied by the Pune module, led by Shubham’s brother Praveen Lonkar, currently held in Arthur Road Jail on charges including the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique.
Police are gearing up to seek remand for Praveen in this case. Investigations reveal that inmates maintained constant communication via phones and other means from both jails. With raids intensifying, the crime branch aims to dismantle this inter-state gang network and ensure no stone is left unturned in protecting Bollywood luminaries from such threats.
