New Delhi, February 24: In a strongly worded statement, Binay Kumar Singh, Director of the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Research Foundation, emphasized that India’s burgeoning AI sector is pivotal to achieving the ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision by 2047. Speaking exclusively to a news agency, Singh highlighted AI’s indispensable role in accelerating national development, describing its contributions as beyond words.
However, he expressed deep concern over attempts to derail this progress. ‘It’s regrettable that certain elements are trying to create obstacles in AI’s path,’ Singh said. He pointed fingers directly at Naxalism, asserting without hesitation that Maoist insurgents are actively hindering developmental projects to sow chaos. The central government, he affirmed, is resolute in eradicating Naxalism entirely, underscoring that a civilized society has no place for such violence.
Singh didn’t stop at Naxals. He criticized other anti-development forces, spotlighting recent protests by Congress workers against an AI summit. These demonstrations, he argued, not only disrupted proceedings but also tarnished India’s global image. What began as seemingly minor agitation escalated when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi likened the protesters to ‘lion-hearted warriors,’ a move Singh deemed irresponsible.
‘Had Rahul Gandhi apologized, it would have elevated his stature,’ Singh remarked. Instead, the episode drew widespread condemnation, including from academics who issued a joint statement decrying the politicization of a crucial tech platform. ‘AI forums should not be turned into political arenas,’ Singh urged, warning that such tactics undermine India’s technological ascent.
As AI poised to turbocharge India’s growth trajectory, Singh called for unity to protect these platforms from partisan interference. The incident, he noted, has unified critics across spectra, from scholars to the public, in rejecting such disruptive politics. With the nation eyeing a developed future, safeguarding AI’s potential remains paramount.
