The woman claims Kapoor lured her to his residence under the pretext of discussing a film project. Once there, she alleges he attempted to molest her. Despite filing a complaint at Khar police station, she asserts the force has failed to act decisively, shielding the actor instead of pursuing justice.
Her lawyer, Ali Kashif Khan, highlighted glaring lapses to IANS. ‘We’ve already petitioned the Police Complaints Authority against the senior inspector and investigating officer. They skipped two hearings, a blatant negligence,’ he stated. Khan demands their suspension and points to available evidence like call details, screenshots, and digital records—yet no arrest.
A police officer’s earlier media remark that arrests aren’t immediate in such cases irks the legal team, especially since a similar incident led to swift action. ‘The law must apply equally; selective enforcement undermines justice,’ Khan emphasized.
The charge sheet filed by police falsely claims Kapoor was arrested and produced in court—a outright fabrication, according to the lawyer. Moreover, Kapoor ignored summons, neither cooperating nor recording statements as required.
Recounting the ordeal, the woman says their acquaintance began on social media. Kapoor promised work opportunities, inviting her to what turned out to be his Khar home, not an office. The High Court has scheduled the next hearing for March 6, keeping the spotlight on this high-profile case.
