In a shocking turn of events from Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, a 28-year-old teacher named Shaishta Parveen has become the center of a heated controversy after eloping with the 60-year-old school principal, Rakesh Sah. The couple tied the knot in Nepal on February 18, only for Shaishta to deliver a baby girl just three days later on February 21 at a private hospital in Sitamarhi.
Rakesh Sah, who runs the school and serves as its principal, had developed a relationship with Shaishta, one of his teachers, starting in 2025. Despite a 32-year age gap and differences in religion—Shaishta being Muslim and Rakesh Hindu—they crossed into Janakpur, Nepal, to solemnize their marriage under Hindu rites. Social media exploded with photos and videos of the wedding, igniting tensions back in their village.
Shaishta’s brother wasted no time filing a police complaint at Aurai station, accusing Rakesh of kidnapping his sister, coercing her into religious conversion, and forcing the marriage. He even named Rakesh’s wife and daughter in the FIR, claiming Shaishta left for school on February 18 and never returned.
From her hospital bed in police custody, Shaishta released a video defending her choices. ‘I married Sir of my own free will after much thought,’ she stated firmly. ‘Don’t falsely accuse him or harass him. I’m completely safe.’ She insisted their bond had been strong since 2025.
Police have recovered Shaishta and, given her recent delivery, are keeping her under custody at the Sitamarhi hospital for treatment. Rakesh remains at large, with raids underway to apprehend him. Once recovered, Shaishta will be produced in court for statement recording. Doctors confirm both mother and child are healthy.
This interfaith love story, marred by allegations of abduction and conversion, continues to divide opinions. As investigations deepen, the nation watches how authorities balance personal freedoms against family claims.
