New Delhi: On the birth anniversary of Tamil Nadu’s iconic former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a heartfelt tribute, saluting her indomitable courage and resolute determination. In a poignant post on X, PM Modi reflected on her remarkable journey as a charismatic leader and exemplary administrator who captured the hearts of millions.

Jayalalithaa’s tenure as Chief Minister was marked by a strong focus on women’s empowerment, social justice, and inclusive development. She championed welfare-oriented governance, ensuring that benefits reached every corner of society. ‘She was compassionate yet decisive,’ PM Modi noted, reminiscing about their interactions with fondness.

Drawing from his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio address, the Prime Minister highlighted the deep bond Tamil Nadu’s people shared with ‘Amma’ Jayalalithaa. ‘Even today, during my visits to the state, I see the affection on their faces when her name is mentioned,’ he said. Her initiatives for mothers, sisters, and daughters earned her special admiration from the state’s women.

PM Modi recalled their discussions on good governance during his time as Gujarat’s Chief Minister. Jayalalithaa attended his swearing-in ceremonies in 2002 and 2012, and she once invited him for lunch during Pongal celebrations. ‘Every meeting and conversation with her remains vivid in my memory,’ he added.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also joined in the remembrance, posting on X to offer tribute to the people’s leader. He praised her commitment to the welfare of the poor and strengthening women, which transformed Tamil Nadu’s development landscape and ensured governance reached the last mile.

Jayalalithaa’s dedication to public service continues to inspire leaders across the nation, underscoring her enduring legacy in Indian politics.
