KOLKATA: In a sharp political volley, Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh has questioned the Congress party’s resolve to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal. Speaking to reporters on Monday, Ghosh directly challenged West Bengal Congress chief’s recent statements, asking who exactly is stopping Congress from defeating BJP.

‘If anyone has a concrete plan to defeat BJP today, it’s our party, TMC, under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s leadership,’ Ghosh asserted. He emphasized that a robust strategy is being crafted to dismantle BJP’s influence in the state, promising no leniency in execution.

Ghosh dismissed the Congress chief’s remarks as irrelevant in the current political landscape. He pointed out Mamata Banerjee’s proven track record, highlighting her ability to counter BJP effectively on multiple fronts.

Turning the tables, Ghosh interrogated Congress’s performance in other states. ‘In states where Congress had a real chance to beat BJP, what did they achieve?’ he asked, demanding official clarifications on their failures in Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, and Bihar.

‘What happened in Maharashtra? How prepared were you? Why did you face defeat in Delhi, Haryana, and Bihar?’ Ghosh pressed, urging transparency.

Additionally, he criticized Congress workers’ protest methods at the ‘AI Impact Summit,’ stressing that demonstrations must maintain relevance and decorum. He drew parallels to disruptions faced by Mamata Banerjee at Oxford, vowing such incidents won’t be tolerated.

As West Bengal’s political temperature rises ahead of future elections, Ghosh’s remarks underscore TMC’s confidence in leading the charge against BJP, while exposing perceived weaknesses in Congress’s strategy.
