New Delhi buzzed with political banter on Thursday as BJP spokesperson Syed Shah Nawaz Hussain unleashed a sharp critique against Congress veteran Mani Shankar Aiyar. Triggered by Aiyar’s recent remark positioning Mamata Banerjee as the leader of the INDIA bloc, Hussain quipped that Aiyar was desperately trying to resurrect the ‘dead’ alliance. ‘Why doesn’t he just become the leader himself?’ Hussain suggested with a smirk during an exclusive chat with IANS.
Hussain didn’t hold back, praising Aiyar’s credentials over Banerjee’s. ‘Aiyar is more qualified—former IFS officer, long-time parliamentarian. If INDIA needs a chief, he’s the man. We’re nominating him since no one else is,’ he added, urging a serious discussion on the proposal. He dismissed the INDIA alliance as a non-entity, lacking an office or chairperson, effectively buried after the Lok Sabha polls with full funeral rites performed.
Shifting gears, Hussain condemned the recent JNU violence, blaming left-wing student groups for descending into thuggery. ‘They don’t just chant slogans; they assault people. ABVP members were targeted. Delhi Police must crack down hard,’ he demanded. On Afghanistan’s new Taliban law permitting extreme violence against women—beating them until bones break—Hussain retorted fiercely: ‘Taliban won’t change. Hit them back until their bones shatter.’
Finally, addressing PM Modi’s ire over Congress’s AI summit antics, Hussain explained it stemmed from national embarrassment. ‘Congress’s propaganda has been exposed, leaving the nation humiliated,’ he concluded, painting a picture of a party caught red-handed.
