Nashik, a city steeped in spiritual heritage, is gearing up for a technological revolution at the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela. Renowned spiritual leader Bhakti Charan Das has enthusiastically endorsed the ‘KumbhDoot’ AI initiative unveiled at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. This groundbreaking project promises real-time digital guidance for millions of devotees, blending ancient traditions with cutting-edge artificial intelligence.
Speaking exclusively to reporters on Sunday, Das highlighted the historic significance of this event. ‘For the first time, the Nashik Kumbh Mela in Maharashtra will integrate AI under the banner of KumbhDoot,’ he stated. The initiative aims to provide seamless navigation, safety alerts, and facility information via mobile devices, ensuring pilgrims can effortlessly locate tents, medical aid, and sacred bathing spots amid the massive gatherings.
Das praised the technology’s potential benefits for sadhus, saints, and devotees alike. ‘This is a commendable step that enhances convenience and security,’ he noted. From tracking crowd densities to offering multilingual directions, KumbhDoot will transform the pilgrim experience, making one of the world’s largest religious congregations safer and more accessible.
However, the spiritual leader issued a thoughtful caution. While embracing AI is essential for modernizing the Kumbh, it must not erode the sacred guru-shishya tradition or the revered practices of rishis and munis. ‘Our devotion to the divine should remain untouched,’ Das emphasized. He urged organizers to deploy AI solely for facilitation, preserving the event’s profound spiritual essence.
Extending gratitude to the Bharat Mandapam hosts, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Nashik administration, Das expressed optimism. ‘This preparation will make the 2027 Kumbh Mela beneficial for all,’ he concluded, calling on everyone to embrace these innovations responsibly. As India fuses faith and tech, KumbhDoot stands as a beacon for harmonious progress.
