HYDERABAD: In a stunning breakthrough, Telangana Police has unraveled the mystery behind the death of writer and YouTuber Boggula Srinivas, arresting his close friend in a chilling contract killing plot.
The 48-year-old author’s body was discovered on February 14 inside a car submerged in Palair reservoir, Khammam district. Local fishermen alerted authorities after spotting the vehicle, initially believing the driver had fled the scene post-accident. However, upon retrieving the car, investigators found suspicious head injuries on Srinivas, turning the case into a full-blown homicide probe.
Srinivas, hailing from Alluru village in Nandyal district, Andhra Pradesh, rose to prominence in 2014 with his controversial book ‘Pawan Kalyan Hatao – Rajneeti Bachao’. The publication drew threats to his life, foreshadowing the tragedy. His family immediately questioned the accident narrative, prompting police to launch a detailed investigation.
After a week of relentless pursuit, Khammam rural police nabbed Venu Madhav Reddy, Srinivas’s associate, along with three alleged contract killers from Badradri Kothagudem district: P. Koteshwar Rao, Sheikh Abdul Hafiz, and Ajmat Ali. The motive? A bitter financial dispute over GST account misuse.
According to Assistant Police Commissioner Tirupati Reddy, Srinivas had allowed Madhav Reddy to use his GST account for business dealings. When tax notices arrived due to outstanding dues, Srinivas demanded cash settlement. Enraged by the pressure, Madhav Reddy orchestrated the murder en route to Vijayawada in Nalgonda district’s Narkatpalli area.
The killers dumped the body-laden car into the reservoir to stage a road mishap, hoping to mislead investigators. But forensic clues and family suspicions led police straight to the culprits. All four suspects are now in custody, facing murder charges as the legal process unfolds.
This case underscores the dangers lurking in personal and financial entanglements, especially for public figures like Srinivas who dared to challenge political giants.
