New Delhi erupted in political controversy as Union Minister Ramdas Athawale unleashed a scathing attack on the Congress party over their disruptive protest during the prestigious Artificial Intelligence Summit. Labeling the demonstration as a blatant assault on India’s global image, Athawale declared it nothing short of ‘anti-national’ behavior that tarnished the nation’s reputation on the world stage.

The AI Summit, a landmark event hosted under the auspices of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, drew leaders from nearly 80-90 countries, including presidents and prime ministers. Athawale highlighted how this international gathering showcased India’s prowess in cutting-edge technology, only for Congress activists to stage protests that embarrassed the hosts and guests alike. ‘Such actions at a time when the world is watching us are a direct hit to our prestige,’ he asserted during a media briefing.

Turning the spotlight on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Athawale accused him of damaging his own party’s standing through these antics. He argued that opposing national initiatives in front of global dignitaries reflects a mindset opposed to India’s progress. This isn’t just political posturing; it’s a deliberate attempt to undermine the country’s achievements, he emphasized.

Shifting gears to Maharashtra’s reservation debates, Athawale clarified that Muslims already benefit substantially from existing quotas. Under the Mandal Commission, around 80% of Muslim castes fall within the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category, securing them reservations. Additionally, the 10% Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota extends to poor families across communities, including Muslims. ‘Religion-based reservations contradict the Constitution, as affirmed by the Supreme Court,’ he noted, defending the state government’s stance.

On illegal infiltration, Athawale echoed Home Minister Amit Shah’s firm position: no mercy for those residing unlawfully. Fake voter entries will be scrutinized, and infiltrators will be deported not just from voter lists but from the country itself. The Election Commission ensures only legitimate citizens vote, tackling issues like dead voters or duplicate entries to maintain electoral integrity. This cleanup is about transparency, not targeting any party, he stressed.

In a heartfelt tribute, Athawale backed demands for the Bharat Ratna for late Ram Vilas Paswan, his close ally and a towering Dalit leader inspired by Ambedkar. Paswan’s contributions to India, Bihar, and marginalized communities merit the nation’s highest civilian honor, he urged, calling for serious consideration by the central government.

As political tempers flare ahead of elections, Athawale’s remarks underscore the NDA’s commitment to national pride, inclusive welfare, and robust governance, setting the tone for heated debates to come.
