Iran Protests Flare Up: Students Chant Against Khamenei

Tehran is witnessing a fresh wave of unrest as university students take to the streets, openly defying Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Verified footage from Sharif University of Technology shows hundreds of protesters marching with Iranian flags, shouting ‘Death to the dictator’ in a bold challenge to the regime.

This outburst follows a pattern of escalating dissent. Just last month, deadly security crackdowns left many dead, fueling public outrage. Now, students at multiple campuses, including Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran and Amir Kabir University, are rallying, commemorating fallen comrades from January’s violent clashes. In Mashhad, crowds chanted ‘Freedom, freedom’ and urged students to demand their rights.

The protests erupted on Saturday, with clashes reported between demonstrators and government supporters near Sharif University. No arrests have been confirmed yet, but tensions remain high as calls for more rallies on Sunday circulate.

Amid this domestic turmoil, the United States is bolstering its military presence near Iran. President Donald Trump has hinted at limited strikes, briefing options against the regime. Recent US-Iran talks in Switzerland aimed to curb Tehran’s nuclear ambitions, but Trump warned that a deal or military action would be clear within ten days. He has publicly backed the Iranian protesters, amplifying global attention.

These student-led actions signal deepening cracks in Iran’s leadership. As economic woes and repression mount, the flames of rebellion could spread, testing the regime’s grip on power. Observers watch closely, wondering if this spark ignites a broader uprising.
