CHENNAI – In a blistering attack, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has accused the ruling DMK government of gross negligence following Delhi Police’s arrest of eight suspects plotting a terror attack in Tirupur. The development, revealed on Sunday, underscores deepening concerns over Tamil Nadu’s deteriorating law and order under Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s watch.

Palaniswami, leveraging his Facebook platform, pointed to media reports confirming the arrests. He lambasted the DMK administration for allowing the state to spiral into a haven for criminality and now, terrorist conspiracies. ‘This is a glaring security lapse,’ he declared, linking it to rising murders, robberies, and extremist threats.

Drawing parallels to the 2022 Coimbatore car bomb blast, Palaniswami criticized the government’s initial dismissal of the incident as a mere cylinder explosion. ‘Instead of acknowledging the terror angle promptly, they downplayed it,’ he said, highlighting a pattern of complacency that endangers public safety.

Questioning the DMK’s proactive measures, he asked why central agencies like the NIA and now Delhi Police are repeatedly stepping in to nab terror suspects in Tamil Nadu. ‘What has the state government done to preempt such plots?’ he probed, warning of a repeat of the 1998 Coimbatore serial blasts if the ‘stubborn Stalin-model DMK’ clings to power.

Palaniswami called for a regime change to restore peace and security. ‘To uphold law and order and make people feel safe, the DMK government must end,’ he asserted. As political temperatures rise ahead of future elections, this episode amplifies opposition voices demanding accountability from the ruling dispensation.
