Hyderabad’s upscale Jubilee Hills turned chaotic on Sunday when a luxury Ferrari veered out of control, smashing into a power pole and triggering a multi-vehicle pileup. The high-speed incident unfolded near the residence of Tollywood star Nandamuri Balakrishna on Road No. 45, leaving three people injured and snarling traffic for hours.
Eyewitnesses described a heart-stopping scene as the multi-crore Ferrari, reportedly valued between 3.5 to 4 crore rupees, lost control while heading from Jubilee Hills to Kondapur. It first collided with a divider-mounted electricity pole before slamming into an oncoming car. The impact rippled outward, damaging several trailing vehicles including cars and two-wheelers on the busy stretch.
The crash site quickly became a bottleneck, with emergency responders rushing to aid the wounded. Police arrived promptly, diverting traffic and escorting the injured to a nearby private hospital where their conditions are now stable. Jubilee Hills police have registered a case and launched a probe into the accident’s causes.
Preliminary investigations point to possible brake or engine failure, exacerbated by excessive speed. The driver tested negative for alcohol and was en route to a wedding. The Ferrari is registered in the name of E. Venkata Raja Reddy. Transport officials are conducting a thorough mechanical inspection.
In a separate tragedy on the city’s outskirts, a farmer lost his life in a hit-and-run in Pahari Sharif’s Sardar Nagar. Returning from his fields, he was struck by a suspected auto-rickshaw, suffering fatal head injuries despite hospital treatment. Police are hunting for the fleeing driver as the community mourns another road victim.
