New Delhi: In the latest episode of his popular radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a strong call to action on digital safety. Speaking directly to the nation on Sunday, he emphasized the critical role of timely KYC (Know Your Customer) verification, re-KYC processes, and regular password updates in safeguarding bank accounts from cyber threats.
PM Modi highlighted how updated KYC acts as a shield against frauds like ‘digital arrest’ scams, which continue to plague citizens despite previous warnings. ‘Don’t panic if your bank asks for KYC or re-KYC, even if you’ve done it before,’ he advised. ‘It’s all for protecting your hard-earned money.’
With pensions, subsidies, insurance, and UPI transactions now deeply intertwined with banking systems, the Prime Minister stressed that periodic re-KYC is non-negotiable. He warned against falling for fake calls or links from scammers pretending to be bank officials. ‘Perform KYC only through official bank branches, apps, or authorized channels. Never share your details or OTP with anyone,’ he cautioned.
Modi also recommended changing passwords regularly to bolster online security. ‘Empowered citizens build a strong, self-reliant India,’ he declared, urging everyone to stay vigilant.
Shifting gears, the PM shared insights from the ‘India AI Impact Summit’, describing it as a pivotal moment for harnessing artificial intelligence. He recounted interactions with global leaders and tech CEOs, spotlighting AI’s revolutionary applications—from aiding animal healthcare to enabling farmers to monitor their dairy operations and livestock 24/7.
This episode of Mann Ki Baat, the 131st in the series, resonated with millions, reinforcing the government’s push for digital literacy and technological advancement in everyday life.
