In a timely address during the 131st episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to stay vigilant against the rising menace of digital arrest scams and financial frauds sweeping across India. Delivered from New Delhi, the Prime Minister’s message resonated deeply, highlighting how fraudsters are targeting innocent people, including seniors who lose their life savings.

PM Modi recounted chilling instances where victims had their hard-earned money swindled away—funds saved for children’s education or built through years of honest labor. Business owners too are falling prey, duped by callers posing as high-ranking officials demanding personal details. ‘These incidents are unforgivable,’ the PM emphasized, stressing the need for heightened awareness despite previous discussions on the topic.

He delved into common tactics, like fake calls and SMS links mimicking bank KYC updates. Many wonder why re-KYC is needed if they’ve already complied. Modi explained it’s essential for securing accounts linked to pensions, subsidies, insurance, and UPI transactions. Banks conduct these checks periodically to protect users.

However, the PM cautioned against imposters exploiting this process. ‘Never share OTPs, Aadhaar numbers, or bank details with anyone,’ he advised firmly. Stick to official bank branches or apps for any verification. Regularly updating passwords was another key tip to fortify personal cyber defenses.

This call to action comes as digital fraud cases continue unabated, underscoring the Prime Minister’s proactive role in national security. By fostering a culture of caution, Modi aims to shield millions from heartbreak and financial ruin, empowering every citizen to be their own first line of defense.
