In a heartfelt homecoming after nearly 25 years, United Kingdom’s AI and Online Safety Minister Kanisk Narayan returned to his birthplace in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. The event, hosted at a local college, kicked off with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, drawing crowds eager to hear from the prominent NRI leader.
Speaking on the responsible use of artificial intelligence, Narayan emphasized that technology must be harnessed thoughtfully for societal good. ‘AI can be a boon if deployed ethically,’ he stated, underscoring the need for capacity building, training, and awareness to ensure its effective implementation.
Visibly emotional, the minister shared his longing for Muzaffarpur’s world-famous lychees and mangoes, a taste of home that lingers even in Britain. He marveled at Bihar’s transformation, highlighting remarkable progress in education and infrastructure over the past decades.
‘Bihar’s youth brim with potential; I see the fire of ambition in their eyes,’ Narayan remarked. He urged the state to leverage its water and human resources for rapid development. In India’s booming economy, emerging technologies like AI could revolutionize everyday lives, particularly in manufacturing, he added.
Narayan envisioned AI playing a pivotal role in Bihar’s growth trajectory. His visit not only bridged his personal nostalgia with professional insights but also inspired local aspirations, signaling a bright future where tradition meets innovation.
