New Delhi is buzzing with anticipation as Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan prepares for a significant visit to Tamil Nadu on February 22. The high-profile tour will spotlight the state’s rich freedom struggle heritage, starting with a key foundation-laying ceremony for the statue of legendary freedom fighter V.O. Chidambaram Pillai in Vandipuram, Madurai.
Beyond the statue unveiling, Radhakrishnan’s itinerary includes visits to the historic Thirukostiyur Soumya Narayana Perumal Temple and Rani Velu Nachiyar Palace in Shivaganga. These sites symbolize Tamil Nadu’s deep cultural and revolutionary legacy, underscoring the Vice President’s commitment to honoring regional icons.
Just a day prior, on International Mother Language Day, the Vice President released the Tamil and Gujarati versions of the Indian Constitution, along with the eighth edition of Legal Terminology (English-Hindi). In a stirring address, he hailed Tamil as a classical language with an ancient literary treasure trove and Gujarati for its profound cultural and philosophical depths.
‘This initiative bridges the Constitution to the people in their mother tongues, fostering democratic participation and awareness,’ Radhakrishnan emphasized. He commended the Ministry of Law and Justice for making the foundational document more accessible nationwide.
At the National CSR Summit 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam, the Vice President urged collaborative efforts between institutions. ‘When we unite, society and the nation progress collectively,’ he stated, highlighting the need for such partnerships amid India’s transformative phase.
Reflecting on the past decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, he noted India’s rise to the world’s fourth-largest economy, poised to claim the third spot soon. Structural reforms, inclusive growth, digital connectivity, financial inclusion, and infrastructure development have lifted over 250 million citizens out of extreme poverty, igniting hope across sectors and communities.
Looking ahead, Radhakrishnan stressed deeper synergies among government, industry, and civil society to propel the next development phase. His Tamil Nadu visit not only celebrates history but also reinforces India’s journey toward inclusive prosperity.
