Bengaluru, February 21 – Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah delivered a powerful message to health workers on Saturday, calling on them to rise above caste and religious divides in serving humanity. Speaking after distributing appointment letters under the Abhaya Hastha program organized by the Health and Family Welfare Department, the CM emphasized the noble essence of healthcare.
The event marked the induction of over 1,000 new recruits into various positions in the Health and Family Welfare Department and the Food Safety and Drug Administration. Siddaramaiah expressed satisfaction at these appointments, noting that healthcare is not merely a profession but a sacred duty to save lives and prevent diseases.
Highlighting his government’s commitment since returning to power, the CM revealed ongoing phased efforts to fill vacant posts across key sectors. ‘Education, health, and policing are our top priorities as they directly impact public welfare,’ he stated. With over 2.5 million vacancies in government departments statewide, the administration is methodically addressing the shortfall.
To ensure transparency and curb corruption, recruitment and transfers are now conducted through counseling processes. Around 5,700 positions, including those for doctors, have been allocated this way. Siddaramaiah warned employees against falling prey to middlemen in transfer dealings, underscoring anti-corruption as a core objective.
Reiterating the vital role of all health staff, including non-medical personnel, the CM urged them to perform duties with humanity at the forefront. ‘When a patient needs blood, no one checks caste or religion. Yet, once recovered, divisions resurface,’ he poignantly observed.
Siddaramaiah stressed proactive disease prevention and affirmed the government’s multiple schemes to strengthen Karnataka’s health infrastructure, promising a robust future for public healthcare.
