Lucknow is gearing up for a crucial voter registration push as Uttar Pradesh launches its final special campaign day on February 22. This initiative, part of the Election Commission’s intensive revision program, aims to ensure every eligible citizen is on the electoral rolls.
Under the claims and objections period, all polling stations across the state will host booth-level officers from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. These officials will assist with adding new names, correcting entries, and removing inaccuracies using the draft voter list published on January 6.
Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa highlighted that this is the fourth and last of four designated campaign days, following successful drives on January 11, 18, and 31. Forms for new registrations (Form 6), overseas Indians (Form 6A), deletions (Form 7), and corrections (Form 8) will be readily available.
Help desks at every center will guide voters through the process, making it easier for first-timers and those needing updates. Political party agents, local representatives, and volunteers are roped in to boost participation, while district officials monitor progress on the ground.
This drive comes at a pivotal time, emphasizing the importance of accurate voter lists for fair elections. Residents are urged to visit their booths and verify details promptly, ensuring no one misses out on their democratic right. With deadlines approaching, February 22 offers the last window to perfect the rolls before finalization.
