New Delhi witnessed a heated controversy at the India AI Impact Summit as Youth Congress activists staged a disruptive protest. Exhibitors at the event lambasted the demonstration, calling it inappropriate and a setback to India’s technological showcase on the global stage.

The summit, held at Bharat Mandapam, aimed to highlight India’s strides in artificial intelligence. However, shirtless Youth Congress members stormed the venue, chanting slogans against the central government over issues like unemployment, inflation, and a purported India-US trade deal. This bold move has sparked widespread debate.

One prominent exhibitor told reporters, ‘This is a moment of pride for all of us. India is racing ahead in technology, with youth looking to the future. But Congress is trying to drag us back a hundred years.’ The sentiment echoed the frustration of many attendees who viewed the protest as a stain on an otherwise grand event.

A teacher from Uttar Pradesh drew a stark analogy, reminiscing about childhood tales of the ‘kachcha-baniyan gang’ – petty criminals who looted openly. ‘Political dissent should be expressed properly, with permissions at designated spots like Jantar Mantar,’ he urged. He praised the government’s meticulous planning, noting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s three visits to the venue.

Comparisons were drawn to past events. The G20 summit was lauded for its flawless execution, while the Commonwealth Games remain tainted by scandalous overpricing – like items worth Rs 400 billed at Rs 40,000. Exhibitors emphasized the collective effort behind such mega-events, likening it to a family wedding where everyone contributes to success.

The day after, Youth Congress defended their action on social media, sharing Mahatma Gandhi’s image to justify their stance. As the summit continues, the incident underscores tensions between political activism and national progress narratives. Critics argue it sends the wrong message at a time when India seeks to position itself as an AI powerhouse.
