Shahjahanpur, once echoing with the battle cries of freedom fighters like Ram Prasad Bismil, is scripting a new saga of progress. This Uttar Pradesh district, long overshadowed, is surging ahead with medical colleges, upcoming universities, industrial hubs, and mega infrastructure like the Ganga Expressway.

The Ram Prasad Bismil Medical College stands as a beacon in healthcare. Equipped with cutting-edge labs and a 100-bed hospital, it delivers world-class treatment locally, sparing patients trips to metros. Beyond health, it’s drawing MBBS students from neighboring districts and states, fueling aspirations.

Education is transforming too. The historic Swami Shukdevanand College is evolving into a full-fledged university, keeping local talent rooted. ‘No more heading to Bareilly or Lucknow,’ beams Nisha, an MA graduate. ‘Quality education is right here, with parents at ease.’ Upendra Singh, a political science student, adds that it opens doors for economically weaker sections.

Economically, the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme has revived zari-zardozi, the district’s traditional craft teetering on extinction. Artisans like Mohammad Yasin Khan report a boom: from 4-5 workers to 50, with orders pouring in from Dubai and Saudi Arabia. Monthly earnings have jumped sevenfold to 25-30 thousand rupees.

Industry is thriving with UltraTech Cement factory and others employing thousands. The Ganga Expressway links Shahjahanpur to key cities, boosting investments. In villages, schemes like Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma are empowering women—Sunita Pandey now runs her own venture with government kits, achieving self-reliance.

‘Drone Didi’ initiatives have women farmers adopting tech for higher yields. District Magistrate Dharmendra Pratap Singh emphasizes round-the-clock law enforcement and prompt grievance redressal, creating a investor-friendly vibe. From neglect to renaissance, Shahjahanpur embodies Uttar Pradesh’s vision of secure, governed growth.
