In a heartbreaking incident on Gujarat’s highways, a family returning from a wedding celebration met with a fatal accident in Mehsana district. Five members, including a father-son duo, a woman, and a child, lost their lives when their Eco car collided with a divider and overturned near Unava village in Unjha.
The tragedy unfolded late evening as the family from Ramol, Ahmedabad, was heading back from Rajasthan. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene with the car shattering into pieces upon impact. Local residents rushed to help, alerting police who arrived swiftly to manage the rescue.
Among the deceased were Ramlal Kumawat, Komal Kumawat, Kailash Kumawat, an unidentified child, and an elderly woman. Six others sustained critical injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment. Unava police have initiated a thorough investigation, sending bodies for post-mortem.
This crash marks the second major road tragedy in Gujarat within days. Just prior, Valsad district witnessed a horrific collision on Kaprada-Nanaponda highway near Kumbhghat, claiming seven lives from one family. That accident at a notorious sharp bend saw a car smash head-on into a truck, trapping occupants inside the mangled wreckage.
Authorities highlight recurring issues at high-risk spots like these bends, urging stricter enforcement of speed limits and vehicle checks. As families mourn, the incidents underscore the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures across the state.
