Patna, February 21: In a heartfelt homecoming, United Kingdom’s Minister for Artificial Intelligence, Kanishk Narayan, set foot in Bihar after nearly two decades. Born in Muzaffarpur, the minister arrived in Patna on Friday morning and was warmly welcomed by Janata Dal (United) executive president and MP Sanjay Jha at his residence.
Speaking to the media in Patna, Narayan expressed profound joy at returning to his roots. ‘I’m truly delighted to be in Bihar, where I was born. It’s been over 20 years since I last visited. The progress here is evident, and as we march towards the future of technology in Britain through AI, seeing Bihar’s advancements fills me with happiness,’ he said.
Sanjay Jha highlighted Narayan’s Bihar connections despite his prominent role in the UK. ‘Kanishk Narayan is a Muzaffarpur native. Though a UK citizen and minister, his heart remains tied to Bihar. This is his first return in over 20 years,’ Jha noted.
The visit promises significant discussions. Later in the afternoon, Narayan is scheduled to meet Bihar government officials, potentially paving the way for enhanced collaboration between Bihar and the UK in the AI sector.
Jha praised Bihar’s transformation under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. ‘Everything is global now, and Bihar is competing with technology. We’ve built a strong platform here. Whether in health, agriculture, or services, AI can revolutionize them. As an agricultural state, Bihar will not lag behind any other in the future,’ he asserted.
This visit underscores the growing global ties of Bihar’s diaspora and the state’s ambitious tech push, signaling brighter prospects ahead.
