New Delhi, February 21: Devotees of Lord Skanda, also revered as Kartikeya, Murugan, and Subrahmanya, the divine son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, are gearing up for the sacred Skanda Shashti festival on Sunday, February 22. This revered fast and worship day holds immense significance for those seeking progeny, victory over enemies, enhanced intellect, and physical strength. Often called Kanda Shashti, it promises fulfillment of heartfelt desires and infuses life with positive energy.

According to the Drik Panchang, the Shukla Paksha Panchami tithi concludes at 11:09 AM on February 22, paving the way for the Shashti tithi. Sunrise is slated for 6:53 AM, with sunset at 6:16 PM. The Ashwini nakshatra prevails until 5:54 PM, transitioning to Bharani thereafter. The overlap of Panchami and Shashti allows observances on either day, though Shashti remains paramount. However, the entire day carries Panchami’s influence per udayatithi norms.

Rituals call for offering yellow flowers, incense, lamps, and naivedya like potatoes, sweet potatoes, and fruits to Lord Skanda. Observers should stick to fruit-based meals or single-time eating, concluding the fast post-evening aarti. Such devotion is believed to manifest wishes and usher in vitality.

Auspicious windows abound: Brahm Muhurta from 5:12 AM to 6:03 AM, Abhijit Muhurta 12:12 PM to 12:58 PM, Vijay Muhurta 2:29 PM to 3:14 PM, Godhuli Muhurta 6:14 PM to 6:39 PM, and Amrit Kaal 11:04 AM to 12:35 PM. Adding celestial luck, Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga graces from 6:53 AM to 5:54 PM, followed by Ravi Yoga until 6:52 AM on February 23. These alignments favor prayers, fasting, chants, and new ventures.

Steer clear of inauspicious slots: Rahu Kaal 4:51 PM to 6:16 PM, Yamaganda 12:35 PM to 2:00 PM, Gulika Kaal 3:25 PM to 4:51 PM, and Dur Muhurta 4:45 PM to 5:31 PM. Plan your rituals wisely to harness these divine timings for maximum blessings.
