RANCHI: In a landmark announcement during the Jharkhand Assembly’s budget session, Chief Minister Hemant Soren revealed plans to establish a dedicated Organ Donation Commission in the state. Responding to the Governor’s address debate on Friday, Soren emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting organ donation and saving lives.

The CM shared a poignant story of a 10-month-old girl, Alam Jeli Abraham, who became a symbol of selfless giving. After tragically becoming brain dead in an incident, her parents, Sarin An John and Anil Abraham, made the brave decision to donate her organs. ‘This family’s courage inspires us all,’ Soren said, highlighting how such acts can give new life to others.

Soren underscored that the commission will work tirelessly to encourage organ donation among the public, ensuring those in need of transplants get a second chance. ‘Our government is focused on protecting and enhancing the lives of ordinary citizens,’ he affirmed.

The Chief Minister also took pride in the session’s proceedings, noting it was the first time in Jharkhand’s 25-year history that no amendments were proposed to the Governor’s address. ‘People are recognizing our achievements,’ he stated confidently.

He pointed out how Jharkhand’s initiatives are now being adopted by other states, reversing the earlier trend where the state copied others. ‘This is no small feat,’ Soren remarked.

Criticizing opposition politics, Soren contrasted his coalition government’s successes with ‘double-engine’ failures. ‘Soon, those governments will crumble,’ he predicted. Despite challenges, the government has strengthened constitutional values and traditions with clear intent and resolve.

Soren reiterated focus areas like social security, quality education, and improved healthcare. ‘Jharkhand will be a leading state by 2050. Ours is a government run from the villages – strong villages mean a strong state,’ he declared.

Dismissing opposition reluctance to engage, Soren warned that Jharkhand’s rising global profile might shock some. ‘We’ve promised our 3.5 crore people to lead this once-backward state to the forefront. Our ties with the center are open and straightforward.’

The session was adjourned until Saturday morning by the Speaker.
