A shocking twist has emerged in the mysterious deaths of five people in Bihar’s Rohtas district, raising serious questions about the cause. What began as a festive tilak ceremony in Mathiya village under Bikramganj police station has turned into a tragedy, with whispers of poisonous alcohol consumption spreading across the region.

On the night of February 14, a tilak ceremony was held for the son of Ram Poojan Singh in Mathiya village. Relatives and locals gathered to celebrate, unaware of the impending doom. The next day, attendees returned home, but by February 16, Lalu Singh, another son of Ram Poojan, fell critically ill and died despite medical efforts.

Soon after, reports surfaced of more deaths: Abhijit Singh, a relative; Rahul Kumar from Garhattha; and two cooks involved in the event. All succumbed under suspicious circumstances, fueling rumors of tainted liquor served at the gathering.

Enter Dr. [Name withheld], a local physician whose social media post has ignited controversy. The doctor revealed that early on February 15, around 3 AM, a patient from Mathiya was rushed to his clinic. Family members claimed a dog bite, but the doctor dismissed it outright after examination. ‘Such symptoms don’t match a dog bite,’ he posted, referring the patient elsewhere.

In a bold claim, the doctor asserted that poisonous alcohol was the culprit, not a rabid animal. He urged others who consumed liquor that night to seek immediate medical attention, warning of potential kidney and liver failure. His post even controversially suggested that ‘pure alcohol from UP or Jharkhand’ could serve as an antidote—a remark that has sparked debate.

However, families deny any alcohol involvement, labeling it as baseless gossip. Excise Assistant Commissioner Tariq Mohammad confirmed no liquor evidence at the scene, and tests for toxic substances yielded nothing conclusive.

As investigations continue, the community reels from grief and suspicion. Was it really poisonous hooch, or something else entirely? The doctor’s revelations have deepened the mystery, demanding a thorough probe to uncover the truth and prevent future tragedies.
