In a heartbreaking incident from Bihar’s Arrah, an 18-year-old Class 12 student took her own life just hours before her physics exam. Ananya Kumari, daughter of a railway employee, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her room late Thursday night. The tragedy unfolded in the Club Road neighborhood under Nawada police station limits.

According to family members, Ananya was a CBSE board examinee battling severe health issues, including jaundice. A suicide note recovered from the scene revealed her despair: ‘I’m suffering from illness and won’t be able to take the exam.’ Her uncle, Guddu Pandey, shared that she had eaten dinner and retired to her room, only to be discovered lifeless by relatives who peeked in later.

Police swiftly arrived, secured the body, and sent it for postmortem at the Sadar Hospital. Investigations are ongoing, but preliminary reports point to mounting pressure from her prolonged sickness and exam stress. Ananya’s father, Satish Kumar Pandey, a signal supervisor in the railways, had even advised her against appearing for the exams if she wasn’t ready, suggesting she try again later.

Despite his encouragement, Ananya remained deeply troubled. She often confided in family that her mind wasn’t on studies amid constant illness. The family is devastated, with grief engulfing their home. This case highlights the immense pressure on students, especially when health complications collide with academic demands.

Authorities urge parents and educators to watch for signs of mental distress in teenagers facing board exams. As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of a bright young life cut short too soon.
