In a scathing attack on the BJP-led governments at both state and central levels, Chhattisgarh Congress President Deepak Baij has accused the ruling dispensation of ruining the state. Speaking in Raipur on Wednesday, Baij targeted the decision to open liquor shops during Holi, questioning the message it sends to the public.

“The BJP government has pushed Chhattisgarh into financial ruin,” Baij declared. “Despite borrowing heavily, increasing electricity tariffs, hiking land rates, and raiding traders, there’s no money to show for it. Now, they’re planning to open liquor shops on festivals like Holi and Diwali. Why not just keep them open 24 hours a day to make some cash?”

Baij highlighted the government’s desperate measures, from raising liquor prices to exploiting national holidays for revenue. He contrasted this with Congress’s strong campaign in Assam, where Priyanka Gandhi is leading the charge against a failed BJP regime. “Assam BJP is buying votes with cash, just like in Bihar,” he alleged.

Turning to national issues, Baij criticized the Modi government’s handling of the AI Summit, accusing it of passing off a Chinese robotic dog as indigenous technology. “This is an insult to India’s dignity, with clear collusion between Galgotias University and the PMO,” he charged.

Looking ahead, Baij announced upcoming visits by Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge to Chhattisgarh post-Holi. “These events will expose the BJP’s failures on MGNREGA and other fronts. Our workers are energized for grand programs,” he said, signaling intensified opposition activity in the state.
