In a shocking incident highlighting ongoing issues with airline baggage handling, BJP Member of Parliament Praveen Khandelwal from Chandni Chowk, Delhi, arrived safely at his destination but without his luggage after boarding an IndiGo flight. The lawmaker took to social media platform X to vent his frustration, tagging IndiGo’s CEO Pieter Elbers and Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu for immediate action.
Khandelwal was traveling on IndiGo flight 6E-5237 from New Delhi to Belagavi on Friday when the mishap occurred. ‘Shameful experience with IndiGo 6E,’ he posted, detailing how he reached his destination but his bag did not. The absence of any information about the luggage’s whereabouts caused him significant mental distress, inconvenience, and financial loss, as he had to urgently purchase essential clothes and personal items.
The MP emphasized that the lost bag contained crucial and valuable documents, exacerbating the situation. ‘Such negligence and poor baggage management are unacceptable,’ he stated, questioning what ordinary passengers must endure if even a sitting MP faces this ordeal.
Demanding swift resolution, Khandelwal urged the airline to locate his belongings and compensate for the losses. He directly appealed to Minister Naidu, pointing out that this incident raises serious concerns about IndiGo’s operational standards. As of now, IndiGo has not issued any public response to the complaint.
This event comes amid IndiGo’s recent controversies involving flight delays, cancellations, and service disruptions, prompting calls for stricter oversight in the aviation sector. Travelers are advised to track their baggage closely and document any issues immediately for better resolution.
