New Delhi witnessed a landmark moment in artificial intelligence as Accenture CEO Julie Sweet praised India’s pivotal role in championing inclusive AI during the AI Impact Summit 2026. Speaking to the media on Thursday, Sweet highlighted how the event successfully spotlighted the critical need for inclusive growth alongside responsible AI development.

The summit underscored the necessity for collaboration among nations, private enterprises, and public sectors. ‘This gathering marks a significant recognition of how vital it is for countries, businesses, and governments to unite,’ Sweet emphasized, pointing to India’s growing influence in the global tech landscape.

A key highlight was the government’s announcement of the ‘New Delhi Frontier AI Impact Commitments.’ This initiative aims to bridge leading AI firms with Indian innovators to foster inclusive and ethical AI advancements. Sweet noted, ‘Inclusive development and AI were central themes, with participation from around the world affirming India’s essential position.’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the summit at India Mandapam, drawing global leaders and tech CEOs. The opening ceremony focused on steering AI’s future through responsible innovation, scientific progress, and international partnerships.

Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran described AI as the next foundational infrastructure, comparable to steam engines, electricity, and the internet in its transformative power. He lauded India’s digital public infrastructure achievements and positioned AI as a strategic national capability spanning chips, systems, energy, and applications.

This summit positions India as a frontrunner in shaping a collaborative, equitable AI era, setting a precedent for global tech diplomacy.
