In a swift response to the horrific witchcraft murder in West Singhbhum’s Kalaiya village, Deputy Commissioner Chandan Kumar and Superintendent of Police Amit Renu arrived on Thursday to meet the grieving family. The incident, where a mother and son were brutally killed on suspicion of sorcery under Kumaradungi police station, has shocked the region.

The officials conducted a thorough assessment of the situation, engaging deeply with family members to understand the full sequence of events. They also checked on the condition of an injured victim admitted to the hospital, issuing strict directives to ensure top-notch medical care.

Assuring the family of unwavering support, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the administration stands firmly with them. Every possible aid will be extended without delay. The team scrutinized the family’s access to government welfare schemes, including ration cards, social security pensions, and enrollment of children in anganwadi centers.

Orders were given to relevant departments to prioritize linking the family to all eligible programs, preventing any future hardships. SP Amit Renu evaluated law and order in the village, reinforcing security measures for the bereaved household. He vowed rigorous action against the perpetrators, declaring zero tolerance for vigilante justice.

This high-level visit underscores the district’s commitment to eradicating superstitious practices and protecting vulnerable communities. Local administration and police officials were present throughout, signaling ongoing vigilance in the case.
