In a spine-chilling incident from Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district, a 17-year-old girl became the victim of unimaginable brutality. Returning home on foot after watching a village play on February 16 night, she was intercepted by two young men in the Bagbahar police station area. Lured with false promises of a safe ride, she boarded their bike, only to be taken to a secluded jungle where the perpetrators took turns assaulting her.
The ordeal didn’t end there. To cover their tracks, the attackers strangled her until she lost consciousness, presuming her dead, and abandoned her bloodied body amid bushes near the electricity sub-station road. Miraculously, passersby spotted her the next night in a semi-conscious, battered state. She was rushed to a local hospital, then referred to Pathalgaon Civil Hospital, and finally to Ambikapur Medical College for advanced treatment.
Police registered an FIR on February 18 and are closing in on the suspects. The girl’s family, devastated and tearful, demands swift justice and the harshest punishment. Village outrage is palpable, with residents demanding better safety measures for women, especially at night. As the teen fights for her life, this case underscores the urgent need for vigilance and stricter law enforcement in rural areas.
