Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren made a strong appeal to the Central government on Wednesday, urging it to play the role of an elder brother in fostering the comprehensive development of the state. Speaking to journalists in the assembly premises during the budget session, Soren highlighted Jharkhand’s status as a backward state and emphasized the urgent need for special economic assistance from the Centre.
The Chief Minister outlined the state government’s proactive measures to bolster rural economies, enhance education through tribal hostels, and strengthen healthcare via the Digital Health Mission. He reiterated his commitment to the welfare of tribal and marginalized communities, pointing to flagship schemes like the Mukhyamantri Maaiyaan Samman Yojana for women and the Abua Awas Yojana for the homeless.
Soren’s remarks come at a critical juncture as Jharkhand navigates developmental challenges. He stressed that active participation from the Centre is indispensable for realizing the state’s full potential. ‘We are working tirelessly on multiple fronts, but the Centre’s support as a big brother will accelerate our progress,’ he stated.
Experts note that such federal cooperation could unlock Jharkhand’s rich mineral resources and boost infrastructure. As the budget session unfolds, all eyes are on how the Centre responds to these calls for enhanced collaboration. This appeal underscores the ongoing dialogue between states and the Union government on resource allocation and developmental aid.
