Dhaka, February 18 – Bangladesh’s new leadership under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has wasted no time in addressing one of the nation’s most pressing issues: the rampant mob culture that has tarnished the country’s image. On his first day in office, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed issued a stern warning to unruly elements, declaring that such lawlessness will no longer be tolerated.

Speaking to journalists after a meeting with senior officials, Ahmed emphasized the government’s commitment to democratic rights while drawing a clear line against illegal activities. ‘Mob culture must end in Bangladesh. It will not be encouraged under any circumstances,’ he stated firmly. The minister assured citizens that rallies, gatherings, and legitimate protests would be protected, but blocking highways and streets in the name of demands would face immediate action.

The Daily Star reported that Ahmed’s directives aim to restore order and rebuild public trust in law enforcement. He called on the police and other agencies to shed their negative image and become ‘friends of the people.’ ‘Our police have been inadequate in the past. Now, they must regain their lost reputation,’ he added.

Transparency and accountability are at the forefront of the new administration’s agenda. Ahmed vowed to create a corruption-free home ministry, promising swift action against any personnel involved in criminal activities. This bold stance signals a new era for Bangladesh, where law and order will prevail over chaos, fostering a stable environment for democratic expression.
