Mumbai’s film veteran Subhash Ghai is charting new territory. His production house, Mukta Arts, is diving headfirst into the animation realm. The inaugural project? A vibrant animated adaptation of his 1976 blockbuster Kali Charan.
In an exclusive interview, Ghai shared his vision for this bold move. ‘Animation, gaming, and AI are converging to form a massive industry,’ he emphasized. ‘India has boundless talent, rich stories, and top-notch technicians. We just need to package our narratives for global audiences through animation and games.’
Ghai sees AI as a game-changer, a tool that will streamline storytelling. ‘It’s like a kitchen helper today; tomorrow, it’ll be everywhere,’ he quipped. But his heart is set on reviving classics. ‘Kali Charan comes first,’ he declared. ‘Its thrilling plot deserves a fresh animated avatar that kids today can enjoy in theaters.’
The remake will preserve the core storyline while reimagining characters and presentation styles. Ghai’s excitement is palpable—he believes this could spark a renaissance for Indian animation.
On a personal note, Ghai extended warm wishes for screenwriter Salim Khan’s recovery. ‘He’s a dear friend, and the industry is praying for him,’ he said earnestly.
As Mukta Arts steps into this dynamic space, Bollywood watchers are buzzing. Could this be the start of Indian stories conquering animated screens worldwide?
