In a moment of pure triumph, Jammu and Kashmir’s cricket team has etched its name in the annals of Indian domestic cricket by storming into the Ranji Trophy final for the first time ever. Led by the indomitable Paras Dogra, the team pulled off a stunning victory against Bengal in the semifinal clash, showcasing resilience and skill under pressure.

The hero of the hour was all-rounder Aquib Nabi, whose match-winning exploits with both bat and ball turned the tide decisively. Nabi claimed a staggering nine wickets across the match while also smashing a crucial 42 runs, earning him the Player of the Match award. This performance capped a brilliant run where he had already starred in the quarterfinals against Karnataka, bagging 12 wickets.

The semifinal drama unfolded at Eden Gardens. Bengal posted 328 in their first innings, putting J&K under the pump. Responding gamely, J&K were bowled out for 302, trailing by 26 runs. But in a display of fiery bowling, Aquib Nabi and Sunil Kumar dismantled Bengal’s batting in their second dig, bundling them out for just 99. Chasing a modest 126, J&K lost four wickets but crossed the line comfortably, with Vanshaj Sharma unbeaten on 43 and Abdul Samad on 30.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti couldn’t hold back her joy, taking to X to congratulate the team. ‘You all have written a golden chapter,’ she posted, praising their patience, courage, and unwavering belief. Her words resonated across the region, highlighting how this win transcends sport, symbolizing hope and unity in challenging times.

As J&K awaits the winner of the Karnataka-Uttarakhand semifinal, all eyes are on the final starting February 24. This historic run has ignited pride in the Union Territory, proving that perseverance pays off on the big stage.
