Bhopal’s political circles are buzzing with reactions to the Madhya Pradesh Budget for 2026-27, unveiled as a massive ₹4.65 lakh crore blueprint prioritizing the underprivileged. BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal hailed it as a landmark push towards inclusive growth, squarely targeting the poor, youth, farmers, and women.

In an exclusive interview, Khandelwal emphasized how the budget mirrors the state’s robust economic vision. Per capita income has surged from ₹1.41 lakh to nearly ₹1.79 lakh—a solid 19% jump—thanks to proactive government policies that are clearly paying dividends in uplifting household earnings.

Agriculture takes center stage with ambitious green initiatives. Plans are afoot to install one lakh solar pumps, revolutionizing irrigation for farmers. Natural farming will span one lakh hectares, promoting sustainable practices. Women’s empowerment gets a fillip through enhanced funding for the Ladli Behna scheme, ensuring greater financial security.

Youth-focused measures include ongoing hostel constructions for better living facilities, ₹25,000 crore in loans, benefits for 40,000 Atal Pension enrollees, and a whopping ₹815 crore for sports development. Infrastructure acceleration via the CM Majra-Tola scheme allocates ₹21,000 crore, while education sees 294 new Sandeepani schools poised to fortify the learning ecosystem.

Social and religious provisions shine too, with ₹10,000 crore earmarked for Gumkar society and Jee Ram Ji bills, alongside boosts for 2028 religious events and tourism. Khandelwal described this as the roadmap to a $2 trillion economy by 2047.

Dismissing opposition criticism, he contrasted today’s budget—20 times larger than the ₹23,000 crore in 2003—with calls for bipartisan praise on people-centric moves. Many schemes now boast 15-20% higher allocations, with future expansions baked in, painting a picture of holistic progress.
